BCAHL Code of Conduct

 The Beaver County Adult Hockey League (BCAHL) is committed to providing a competitive, safe, and enjoyable hockey experience for all participants. This Code of Conduct establishes expectations for behavior both on and off the ice to ensure respect, sportsmanship, and integrity throughout the league.

 

1. Sportsmanship & Respect

  • All players, officials, and league staff shall be treated with respect at all times.
  • Verbal abuse, threats, or harassment toward players, referees, or league officials will not be tolerated.
  • Good sportsmanship is mandatory. Shake hands after every game, win or lose.


2. Player Conduct

  • No fighting: Any physical altercation beyond standard hockey play will result in ejection per referee discretion and possible suspension per league commissioner discretion.
  • Zero tolerance for abusive language: Profanity, slurs, or derogatory comments directed at any individual will lead to penalties or removal from the league.
  • No intentional injury: Reckless play or deliberate attempts to injure another player will result in immediate suspension or expulsion.


3. Alcohol, Drugs & Substances

  • Players may not participate while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • In accordance with Brady's Run Ice Rink policy, no alcohol is permitted on the bench or in locker rooms.
  • Violation of this policy may result in removal from the game or league.


4. Equipment & Safety

  • CSA-approved helmets and full equipment are required at all times (shoulder pads, shin guards, gloves, etc.) 
  • Neck guards and mouthguards are strongly recommended but not mandatory.
  • Any player deemed unsafe by officials or league staff will be removed from play until the issue is corrected.


5. Officials & Disciplinary Action

  • Referees' decisions are final. Arguing calls excessively or abusing officials will not be tolerated.
  • Any major penalty, match penalty, or game misconduct will be reviewed by the league for possible suspension.
  • Repeat offenders or egregious violations may result in permanent expulsion from the league.


6. Captains Responsibilities

  • Captain's are expected to be the primary communication between teams and the referee during game
  • Captain's are responsible for promoting sportsmanship and deescalating situations that arise during games.
  • Substitutes must be registered members of the league and captains are encouraged to find members from the next lower league in an attempt to avoid "cherry picking" talented players in an effort to win.


7. Locker Room Etiquette

  • Respect other players’ belongings and personal space.
  • Clean up after yourself.
  • Harassment or inappropriate behavior in the locker room will result in disciplinary action.


8. Playoff Eligibility

  • Players must play 50% of regular season games to be eligible for playoffs. If a player has played less than 50% of regular season games, they can petition the league's captains for a majority vote to obtain eligibility to play.
